I found this entry on one of my library-oriented blogs. This may be the most touching commentary on father/daughter (or parent/child) relationships I've ever seen. I think I need to go home and call my dad. And my mom. And my stepdad.
I remember being dead embarrassed in the mall when I was 13, and my friend and I were walking far ahead of my parents so people wouldn't think we were with them. My dad started pointing at us and saying loudly, "Those girls are with us! We're with them!" My friend and I took off walking as fast as we could while my parents laughed their asses off. I don't think I've been embarrassed by anything he's done since, and my dad is nuts (in a good way).
