I would like to review one of the cardinal rules of polite society:

Never, ever ask a woman if she is pregnant, no matter how sure you are that you can see a bulge. EVER.

Someone asked me if I was pregnant this morning, and I am a little less happy with my new dress than I was before.

Who does that?

I had someone do that to me once. I must have looked very very cold because she shrank back (it was a perfect stranger too) and said "You are not pregnant?" And I replied back "If I ever was, I'd have an abortion, so that would be NO."

Sadly, this was a co-worker, and she didn't seem to understand how offensive it was. Not to mention ego-deflating. Frankly, even if I *was* pregnant, I wouldn't tell her just because she asked.

*sigh* When it comes to having children, its bizarre, downright bizarre, how all boundries are just thrown out of the windows. Of ocurse she thinks she has the right to ask - after all, if you were pregnant, you need to be telling EVERYONE becauase EVERYONE has the right to know, just like everyone has the right to know WHEN/if/why and why not you and your husband plan on having kids, dontcha know?

Drives me bonkers.
