Someone pointed me to the bad baby names site. I'm dying.

But, she has the best advice ever on baby naming: "I got an e-mail a while back from a lady who said she gave her potential baby names a test: did they fit better in the sentence, 'Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States [blank] [blank]' or 'And now, on the main stage, the Lusty Beaver Adult Club presents the hot action of [blank] [blank].' I think hospital forms should be reformatted to force parents to do just that."

So, so true. And believe me, your kid will not appreciate having to spell his name for everyone he ever meets. Unlike being, say, Kevin, Michael, Andrew, etc.

I work in a public library in the Bronx. I have seen every cariation of almost any name you can think of, and a lot you haven't. I'm amazed at all these little kids who just automatically spell their name without even being asked, becasue they *know* no one will spell it correctly. They should not have to do that.

Not to mention all the little girls running around named Aaliyah. Did all those moms think they would be the only ones doing that?

I will say again - when the time comes, I am getting the Social Security name list for the year, and getting something that IS in the top 200, but NOT in the top 20. That should ensure a spellable, but not too common name.
